New location for deliveries in northern Germany

The new facility is scheduled for completion as early as May 2021. It will then offer a storage and transshipment area of 5,500 sqm and, with 20 loading gates, enough possibilities for arrivals and departures. The logistics centre previously used in Hanover has become too small and will be abandoned. The new location is conveniently situated on the A7 – the longest German motorway, which runs from the Danish-German border to the Austrian-German border. The new logistics centre will be used for the temporary storage and transhipment of furniture, household appliances, electronics and fitness equipment with delivery destinations in northern Germany. During construction, particular attention is being paid to sustainability. An e-charging infrastructure will be created on the site and photovoltaics and solar thermal energy will be used for the company’s own electricity and heat generation.

Rhenus Home Delivery is a subsidiary of Rhenus SE & Co. KG with its headquarters at Dortmund Airport in Holzwickede, Westphalia. The Rhenus Group, which is one of the biggest companies in Germany, is an internationally positioned logistics service provider with a turnover of 5.5 billion euros (end of 2019) and around 33,000 employees. Rhenus itself is in turn part of the Rethmann Group, a Westphalian family-owned group. In addition to logistics (Rhenus), Rethmann is also involved in recycling (Remondis) and the recovery of animal and organic residues (Saria).
