From a small Cologne-based company to hidden champion and world market leader

The entrepreneurial couple Blase founded the company in 1964 – at first a real small business, which was a supplier of plastic parts. It was not until 1984 that the in-house production of plastic plain bearings and energy guiding chains began. In 1985, igus still had no more than 40 employees. Since then, the company has grown rapidly and is now the world market leader for its special products, which only insiders know and appreciate – a typical hidden champion of medium-sized industrial companies. igus is still family owned. Frank Blase, the son of the founding couple, manages the company. igus today has 35 branches around the globe.
