Austria is known for its innovative and efficient mechanical engineering companies in the field of conveyor and intralogistics technology. These companies help to automate warehouse and transport processes and increase the efficiency of industry. Three of the leading companies in this field are Knapp AG, Servus Intralogistics GmbH and LTW Intralogistics.
1. Knapp AG (Graz)
Founded in 1952 by Günter Knapp in Graz, Knapp AG specialises in the development and manufacture of intelligent storage systems that integrate advanced solutions in the areas of digitalisation, software, automation and robotics. The initial two employees have grown into an international group with 7,700 employees and 49 locations worldwide. The range of solutions includes systems such as PickEngine and PocketEngine, which optimise the picking process and inventory management, as well as the D3 Daily Dose Dispenser, which was developed specifically for the healthcare sector. Despite its size and global presence, the company maintains a family-orientated management approach and promotes a positive corporate culture that values diversity. The technologies used range from digital solutions and software to the use of autonomous robots and paperless picking workstations, which aim to improve efficiency in various sectors such as healthcare, fashion, retail, food and industry, thus meeting the specific needs of each market.
Update 2024: At LogiMAT 2024, intralogistics provider Knapp AG and Sonepar announced the next milestone in their partnership. The collaboration includes an automation solution with shuttle technology, ergonomic goods-to-person workstations and the KiSoft software.
2. Servus Intralogistics GmbH (Dornbirn)
Servus Intralogistics, part of the renowned Austrian technology group Heron, sets standards in the innovation of logistics solutions. With a long history of development and growth, Servus is dedicated to developing customised intralogistics systems that meet the individual needs of each customer. The company’s mission is to simplify and optimise internal logistics processes, improve operational efficiency and reduce costs At the heart of this innovative vision are innovative products such as the Autonomous Robotic Carrier (ARC), which revolutionises internal transport, and the Servus-Cube, an automated storage and retrieval system. Thesee solutions not only improve resource management, but also ensure greater efficiency and safety in production processes.
3. LTW Intralogistics (Wolfurt)
Since its foundation in 1981, LTW has been part of the Doppelmayr Group,a leading company in ropeway construction. The company entered the field of high-bay warehouse technology in order to compensate for seasonal fluctuations in manufacturing and production capacity. Originally active as a supplier of storage and retrieval machines, LTW has developed into a full-service provider on the international market. LTW specialises in integrated, turnkey solutions that adapt to the specific needs of customers from a wide range of industries. As part of the Doppelmyr Group, LTW can draw on the resources of a globally active company and at the same time respond flexibly to individual customer solutions. In-house production is a key advantage: by manufacturing, assembling and programming all components in-house,LTW ensures that its employees are very familiar with the products, which increases the level of service for customers. The company emphasises the importance of software in intralogistics, as it plays a decisive role in the smooth flow of materials. In order to fulfil customer expectations, LTW combines high-performance logistics software with individual modules. One example of this is the LTW LIOS software solution, which improves the integration of hardware and software in the company’s logistics systems.
