1. Sika AG, Baar: CHF 7.9 billion sales

Sika is a globally operating Swiss specialty chemicals group. The company supplies process materials for waterproofing, bonding, reinforcing and protecting load-bearing structures. The construction industry is the main customer for Sika solutions, along with various industrial sectors. The products are used here in concrete production, elastic waterproofing and bonding, waterproofing, roofing and flooring systems, renovation and reinforcement. The history of Sika dates back to 1910. Today, the Group employs over 17,000 people. The business is organized regionally and comprises the segments North America, Latin America, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) and Asia/Pacific.

Today’s JURA Materials Group has emerged from the Zurlinden & Co. cement factory in Aarau, which was founded in 1882, under the umbrella of JURA Management AG. The Swiss building materials group is focused entirely on concrete production, cement production, sand and gravel extraction, and is also active as a wholesaler in the fields of building ceramics, building materials and sanitary ware. The Group comprises 20 companies with around 450 employees at more than 40 Swiss locations. JURA Materials is part of the building materials group Cement Roadstone Holding (CRH), which is one of the world’s largest building materials groups with sales of 27.6 billion euros.

3. PCI Bauprodukte AG, Holderbank: > 300 million euros sales (PCI Augsburg GmbH; no current sales data available).

PCI Bauprodukte AG is the Swiss subsidiary of PCI Augsburg GmbH. Founded in 1950 as Poly-Chemie-Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH, the company specializes in tiling materials, flooring solutions and product systems for waterproofing, concrete protection and repair. In 2006, PCI was acquired by BASF, where it was integrated into the Construction Chemicals division. In 2020, BASF’s construction chemicals business including PCI was spun off into the new MBCC Group. This in turn will be acquired by the Swiss chemical company Sika in the course of 2022. PCI will thus become part of the Sika Group. The PCI Group employs around 1,200 people across Europe.
