Place 1: Geberit Vertriebs GmbH, Pfullendorf: CHF 3.1 billion (Group) sales (2019)
Geberit is a Swiss sanitary group with headquarters in Rapperswil-Jona and around 12,000 employees in 50 countries. The company produces sanitary systems, piping systems and sanitary ceramics. Geberit Vertriebs GmbH, the German subsidiary, is a sales company. However, Pfullendorf in Baden-Württemberg is also important as a Geberit production location. With approx. 1,500 employees, the plant there represents the largest Geberit production abroad.
Place 2: Viega Holding GmbH & Co. KG, Attendorn: 1.7 billion euros in sales (2018)¬
“Viega” is borrowed from the name of the company founder Franz-Anselm Viegener. Since its foundation in 1899, Viega has developed into a leading manufacturer of heating and sanitary technology in Attendorn, Sauerland. In addition to sanitary and heating systems, the company also manufactures piping systems and offers connection, pre-wall and drainage technology. Viega has around 4,400 employees and produces not only in Germany but also in Switzerland, the USA and China.
Place 3: Grohe AG, Hemer/Düsseldorf: 1.2 billion euros turnover (2018)
Grohe has long been a family business, and since 2014 the well-known manufacturer of fittings and sanitary products has been part of the Japanese building materials group Lixil Group. Sanitary fittings, showers and sanitary systems form the core business of Grohe. In Germany, production takes place in Hemer, Porta Westfalica and Lahr/Black Forest. There are two further plants in Portugal and Thailand. Grohe has a total of around 6,000 employees.
