Real estate investor in Ludwigshafen

In times of online banking, many banking locations are being abandoned. They are often in central locations, but it is not always easy to find a new use for a former bank building – even in inner-city areas, which often present their own problem areas in urban development. A former bank building is also the subject of a current portfolio purchase of residential and commercial buildings in Ludwigshafen. The investor mentioned in this article is also part of our List of the largest property investors in Germany.

New usage concept in demand for real estate

The purchase concerns on the one hand a residential and commercial building, and on the other hand a building that has been vacant for some time and was formerly used by the Deutsche Bank. Both properties are centrally located in Ludwigshafen’s city center – the residential and commercial building in Bismarckstraße, the former bank building in Ludwigstraße. The acquisition is intended to put the two buildings to a new use and to fit in with plans for further urban development in the center of Ludwigshafen. Bismarckstraße, Ludwigshafen’s central shopping mile, has suffered from a decline in business in recent years and the trend towards cheap shops, one-euro shops and outlet stores. The buyer of both properties is Mert Immo Invest GmbH, whose managing director is the Ludwigshafen entrepreneur Yilmaz Karakaplan. Mert Immo Invest was founded in April 2020. Real estate investments form the business purpose of the company. Yilmaz Karakaplan has already made several appearances as a real estate investor in Ludwigshafen in recent years.
