Since 1904 connected with Leipzig as an industrial company

The history of Neue ZWL Zahnradwerk Leipzig is complex. The company started in 1904 as Mechanische Werkstatt G. Köllmann GmbH in Leipzig. The owner, Gustav Köllmann, was expropriated during the Soviet occupation after World War II. The company’s production facilities were nationalised and from 1978 they belonged to VEB IFA-Kombinat Nutzfahrzeuge Ludwigsfelde. The plant in Leipzig-Connewitz became the reprivatised Zahnradwerke Leipzig GmbH in 1993 and, after renovation and refoundation, finally the Neue ZWL Zahnradwerk Leipzig GmbH in 1999.
