Place 1: Siemens Schweiz AG, Zurich: CHF 2.13 billion in sales

The name Siemens stands for technology par excellence. Founded in 1847 as a workshop in Berlin, Siemens developed into a global corporation in a short time. Siemens has been active in Switzerland since 1894. The construction of the Wynau power plant in the canton of Bern was the first Siemens project in the country. Today, Siemens Schweiz AG employs around 5,300 people and is represented at 20 locations in all parts of the country. Siemens Switzerland offers IT solutions in various areas – including under the headings: Siemens Digital Industries Software, Smart Building, Smart Infrastructure and Siemens Healthineers (medical technology).

Position 2: TX Group AG, Zurich: CHF 936 million in sales

TX Group AG – formerly Tamedia AG – is a Swiss media group. The company’s origins date back to 1912. The group’s core business is still newspaper publications. Well-known titles include Tages-Anzeiger, SonntagsZeitung, Der Bund, Berner Zeitung and 24heures. The Group has around 3,700 employees. IT activities take place under the TX Markets brand. It is mainly concerned with digital platform activities. TX Markets rests on two supporting pillars: the digital company JobCloud (operator of the job portals jobs.ch and jobup.ch) and the smg swiss marketplace group (various placement platforms and online marketplaces).

Place 3: Avaloq Group AG, Freienbach: CHF 609 million in sales

Avaloq was founded in Zurich in 1985 as BZ Informatik Aktiengesellschaft – a subsidiary of Switzerland’s BZ Bank. From the mid-1990s, the company was involved in the development of banking application software. This is still the business model today (core product: Avaloq Banking Suite). From 1991 onwards, there was a gradual takeover by the management, and in 2002 BZ Bank gave up its shareholding completely. In 2001, the company was renamed Avaloq. The company employs 2,400 people. Its software is used by 150 banks in 30 countries. Since October 2020, Avaloq has belonged to the Japanese electronics group NEC Corporation.
