List of the 3 largest logistics companies in Switzerland

Below we present the three largest Swiss logistics companies that are part of our concise database. This will help you get a feel for the major players in the industry.

1. Kuehne + Nagel International AG, Schindellegi

Kuehne + Nagel is one of the global market leaders in freight transport and logistics. In 2020, a difficult business year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Schindellegi-based Kuehne + Nagel International AG achieved record operating results with sales of CHF 20.3 billion. The largest segments by turnover are ocean freight and air freight, followed by contract logistics and land transport. The year 2021 also went remarkably well, enabling the Swiss logistics group to report record figures.

Update 2022: The logistics group is pushing ahead with its expansion in Asia, specifically with the acquisition of the air freight provider Apex International. The Chinese company has more than 1,500 employees and expects sales of the equivalent of 2.1 billion Swiss francs in 2020.

2. CEVA Logistics AG, Rotkreuz

CEVA Logistics is an international logistics service provider listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange since May 2018. The group was formed from the merger of various logistics companies and has only been headquartered in Switzerland since 2018. In the early part of 2019, the French CMA CGM Group acquired CEVA Logistics AG, so that the company is now part of the global shipping and logistics company from France.

Update 2023: The Ceva warehouse in Grobbendonk (Belgium) is currently undergoing renovation. In this context, the logistics company is working with Geek+ to optimize the use of autonomous mobile robots for an internationally operating footwear and apparel company.

3. Swiss Post AG, Bern

In third place among the largest logistics companies in Switzerland is Die Schweizerische Post AG, headquartered in Bern. The company not only transports letters and parcels, but also operates a national bus network (PostAUTO AG) and a Swiss financial institution (PostFinance AG). The company’s regional focus is on Switzerland, but its full-service provider in the field of digital and physical document management, Swiss Post Solutions (SPS), in particular, is active worldwide.

Update 2024: The lights will soon go out at Swiss Post subsidiary Direct Mail Company AG. The company is currently still distributing free newspapers and flyers in Swiss letterboxes. However, the delivery service will be discontinued on 01.06.2024, affecting almost 4,000 employees.
