1. Fr. Lürssen Werft GmbH & Co. KG: 1.1 billion euros turnover

Fr. Lürssen Werft is one of the few German shipyards that has successfully stood the test of time. The shipyard’s history began in 1875 with a boatbuilding workshop founded by Friedrich Lürßen in the Bremen suburb of Aumund. Today, the company is run by the fourth generation of the founder’s descendants. The Lürssen business rests on two pillars: the production of large yachts and the construction of naval vessels. Lürssen builds warships up to frigate size – for the German Navy and for export. In 2016, the traditional Hamburg shipyard Blohm+Voss was acquired. In 2021, the naval business was spun off into the Naval Vessels Lürssen Group (NVL Group), which remains part of the Lürssen Group.

2. SAACKE GmbH: 169 million euros in sales

SAACKE in Bremen manufactures burners and firing systems for a wide variety of industrial and marine applications. Important customers are chemical, food or building material industries, steel and metal producers, but also wood processors and operators of waste incineration plants. SAACKE is a specialist in firing systems for refuse derived fuels. The company was founded in 1931 as Carl SAACKE-Ölfeuerungsgesellschaft mbH. Today SAACKE employs around 1,000 people. In addition to its headquarters in Bremen, the company has production sites in Croatia and China. SAACKE products are sold worldwide. SAACKE GmbH as the parent company of the SAACKE Group is family-owned.

3. Vector Foiltec GmbH: approx. 100 million euros turnover

The Vector Foiltec Group from Bremen is regarded as the world market leader in building designs with large-area and translucent building envelopes made of foil constructions. It thus serves about 90 percent of the world market. The parent company is Vector Foiltec GmbH, which was founded in Bremen in 1982. The company covers the entire value chain of foil constructions for architecture and building technology: from project management and engineering services for development and construction to planning and realization of construction work as well as facility management. The Vector Foiltec Group has offices in 14 countries worldwide and employs around 300 people. To date, around 1,500 construction projects have been realised.
