Student Housing continues to be a reliable investment opportunity for large-scale real estate investors. According to research by real estate group Knight Frank, 2022 represented a record year for investment in student housing across Europe with £13.1bn invested across 270 projects. In this article, we will discuss three key European real estate investors that can be found on our list of European real estate investors.

1) Crosslane Student Developments (Manchester, England)

Headquartered in the UK and active across Europe, the student housing subsidiary of Crosslane Property Group specializes in the acquisition and development of student housing. Other business divisions of Crosslane include residential living, property group UK and property group Europe. In 2021, the student housing division was nominated as a finalist for Best Student Broadband at the National Student Housing Awards and has been nominated for numerous awards during the past few years. The English firm is active throughout Europe and has focused on key areas such as Germany, France, The Netherlands, and Spain. Since 2008, the group has completed 31 assets across 22 cities and consists of over 7,000 beds with a further 2,000 in their project pipeline in locations such as Coventry (UK) and Oldenburg (Germany).

2) Xior Student Housing (Antwerp, Belgium)

Since its foundation in 2007, Xior has expanded its operation to The Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Germany, and Sweden. The Belgium firm specializes in owning and developing student housing for modern students. In February 2023, Xior announced the opening of a brand-new residence in Lisbon, Portugal which will provide a home for nearly 500 students. The firm continues to grow and in March 2023, the Belgian group began construction on a new site in Brinktoren, Belgium which consists of 400 homes.

3) Rynda Student Living (London, United Kingdom)

Rynda Property Investors is a European real estate investment and asset manager with offices in London, Paris, Lille, Frankfurt, and Rotterdam. Collectively, the firm manages €995m in assets across over 128 projects. Rynda Student Living represents a subsidiary of the group which exclusively targets investments in student housing assets. The English group target acquisitions between £10m and £250m providing they meet Rynda’s criteria.
