Student Housing is an attractive asset class, particularly in the United Kingdom with over two million students currently in higher-level education and a significant number of international students. Therefore, it is no surprise that real estate investors have created specialized divisions to identify potential investments in the market. In this study, we will discuss three student housing real estate investors based in the UK that can be found on our databases of the largest real estate investors in the UK and Europe which are linked above.

1) Round Hill Capital (London, England)

Round Hill Capital has been focused on providing quality and sustainable housing as well as offering risk-adjusted returns from core and value-add assets for their partners since its foundation in 2002. The London-based firm operates across 14 offices located in Europe, the USA, and Asia. To date, the group has $6bn of assets under management and is constantly seeking new ventures through its three strategic pillars: innovation, integration, and investment. When it comes to student accommodation, the English firm has invested $2.2bn of capital in the student housing market. Some of their investments include a project with 2,500 residential units in London, 4 projects in Madrid and Barcelona, and 11,500 residential units in the Netherlands.

2) Rynda Student Living (London, United Kingdom)

Rynda Property Investors is a British real estate investment and asset manager. Rynda has offices in London, Paris, Lille, Frankfurt, and Rotterdam with headquarters in London. The firm has amassed a portfolio with €995m worth of assets dispersed across 128 projects. Rynda Student Living is the student accommodation arm of the investment group that is responsible for acquiring attractive student housing assets. The division solely seeks projects that are valued between £10m and £250m.

3) London & Scottish Investments (Glasgow, Scotland)

Since its inception in 2012, the co-investing asset management and property development business has launched two property funds. In 2015, the funds combined and were listed on the LSE as Regional REIT limited. Currently, the group has £750m of assets. Whilst the group is active in commercial and residential markets, the firm also seeks interesting opportunities in the student housing market.
