hagebau started in 1964 as a purchasing association of 34 specialist building material dealers. The business activities of the hagebau group are differentiated into different market appearances. A central distribution channel for the retail trade are the 365 hagebau markets in Germany and Austria. They are operated as a franchise system. In addition, there are the Hagebau centres as a combination of specialist and retail trade. Another market presence is Werkers Welt, a hagebau subsidiary that operates small-format DIY stores. In addition, hagebau stands for around 900 building material specialist shops as well as tile and wood specialist shops. The range of products in the specialist trade divisions is aimed at both commercial customers and private end consumers.
