Efforts to introduce an electronic patient file have been underway in Germany since 2004. The E-Health Act of 2015 has created a legal framework for this. But implementation is still a long way off. It is not the first time that the market is developing faster. The personal patient file developed by DoctorBox anticipates many functions of the planned “official” file. The Munich-based investor Isartal Ventures now provides DoctorBox with fresh money. This article is based on the unique List of the 200 most important venture capital investors in Germany.

Isartal Ventures – Healthcare investments in the DACH region
DoctorBox was founded at the end of 2016 by the orthopaedist and trauma surgeon Oliver Miltner and Stefan C. Heilmann. The Berlin start-up offers its users a “patient file for their pocket”. It is an app that can easily be used on any smartphone, manages all personal health data, stores documents, monitors doctor’s appointments and medication and does a lot more. Users always have their health or illness history at hand – very practical for doctor’s visits and medical treatments. The app is said to have been downloaded over 400,000 times.
The Isartal Ventures GmbH & Co. KG from Munich is a holding company of the Wort & Bild publishing group, founded in 2019, whose best-known product is probably the Apotheken Umschau. Isartal Ventures wants to invest specifically in young companies in the health sector in the DACH region. DoctorBox fits almost ideally here. In the course of Corona, DoctorBox has expanded its portfolio and developed a fully digitalized platform for the delivery of Covid-19 findings as well as other corona-related solutions. The participation of Isartal Ventures serves to further expand the business model.
